Special offers differ from bait pieces in one distinct way. Bait pieces are typically valuable content, downloads, etc., designed to help a potential customer solve a problem, expedite a process, evaluate a situation, etc. A bait piece requires contact information to be provided (usually an email) to receive the information. Hence, the valuable information is “bait” to get the contact info.
A special offer, on the other hand, is typically some sort of “deal” designed to attract potential clients. For example, Red Gator Digital’s special offer is a FREE website evaluation.
But with both special offers and bait pieces, it’s wise to link to a LANDING PAGE where the lead can be converted. Even better, to maximize the possibility of each lead, add an AUTOMATED EMAIL SEQUENCE as a follow-up. (Both are currently on sale!)
